I hope you think this was worth waiting for!!

I am blessed and lucky to have a wonderful person in my life I've known since the start of high school… which was a day or two ago.  The amazing blessing is that the common bond we had left us and we were left to pick up the pieces which we did but the bond transcended that and she has been there for me through everything!  She is and will forever be known as Aunt Diane by my kids and sister in law by me.  So when I sat down with this paper that has always been a favorite of mine that I was saving for the perfect project she came to mind, and I knew I had found it!
I think everything is from Close to My Heart!

The paper packet is Miracle which unfortunately is an older pack of paper but I loved it soo much that I knew it was perfect for this special layout! The colors used are Heavenly Blue, Sky Blue, Pansy Purple, Bamboo, Sweet Leaf, with just a hint of Moonstuck as a subtle accent.  Stamp set C1452 are the cut out embellishments along with the lightly stamped background paper.  The outer scalloped edge circles were cut with the Cricut using the Art Philosophy cartridge also by Close To My Heart cut at 11 or 11.5 inches.

This lovely grouping was made with the full leafy flower stamp stamped twice once with each color (Sky Blue and Pansy Purple) with every other leat cut out and the placed on top of each other with foam adhesive holding them together to give some dimension.  The leaves are Irresistibles by Close To My Heart that came with the Miracle Constant Campaign, however we do still have some wonderful other Irresistibles available currently in the Spring 2013 book! The little square is a matted stickease from the Miracle embellishments.  What looks like ribbon is actually a piece of stamped paper from the paper pack using the Sophia B1379 Workshop on the Go stamp set.

These embellishments are actually the tag pulls of 3 tags hidden under the photos. I used the other flower stamp from the set and this time put centers in them but to get the contrast I also stamped a second one for each in the darker color as the center of each.  This gave them a bit of depth!  The tags are inked and second generation stamped with the journaling done using Word on the computer.

This last grouping is done with the decorative stamped in sky blue and cut out and  edged with pansy purple with a small silver brad in the center.  Once again the little square stickease is matted and edges inked  with a bit of white small ric rac as an accent. The butterfly from the stamp set rounds it out with two stamped with Moonstruck blue and cut out with foam adhesive between them to give it some “pop!” The final little detail is the few metallic blue dots that just give it a little bit of something all the butterflies around the page have them on their bodies along with any dots or circles in the stamped images.

This was honestly one of the most heartfelt layouts I have ever made.  She is truly one of my many blessings!

Welcome to my Art Blog

Hello, Journaling has always been a hobby I have enjoyed and I thought I would combine my two favorite hobbies,,,, Journaling and Scrapbooking/Card Making! I am going to use this journal to share my paper artwork in both scrapbooking and card making.   I hope you enjoy this blog and please always feel free to contact me with questions and comments, or if you would like to purchase either finished projects or the products to make them! If you want to see detailed photos contact me and I can get them to you!

Without farther ado here is the first project, a card I made for a friend to give to his fiance for her birthday:

This card is approximately 4 x 6 and is made with products, from Close To My Heart. The paper is from the paper pack X7158B La Belle Vie. The only product used here that is not CTMH is Shimmer Spritz by Tsukineko that I used on the front butterfly and the inside where you see the sparkle spots this is really a shimmer not a glitter. The base of the card is a 12 x 12 piece of Colonial White card stock, folded so that the front flap is about 1/2 in. short of the fold to allow for a border there.

The front is stamped with swirls from D1482 Love Life, Smitten S1301 Happy Valentine's Day, and the butterfly from D1452 Find Your Style.  The butterfly was stamped twice and both cut out and the wings and antenna's cut off the second one and the wings mounted on the full one with thicker pop foam dots then I used a small piece of the cardstock inked with chocolate in to make the body by scrunching it all up and then forming it to make the body.

Open cover and you have a beautiful Rose stamped from Happy Valentine's Day set and colored using a cranberry marker around the darker parts then used a blending marker with cranberry to make the lighter areas same with the greens which were New England Ivy and Ponderosa Pine for the leaves. The right side butterfly was stamped with Butterfly Kiss C1299 and cut out, the swirlies were again from the same stamp as on the front Love Life but just the top of the stamp cut out along with the small flower from that set which was also cut out.  The lovely saying: “We do not remember days, we remember moments,” is from Moments D1210 as is the little embellishment below. The border on the left is just a strip of the brown paper from the pack with a bit of chocolate ink to make it more distressed.

Opening the right flap reveals the timeless Sonnet 43 “How Do I Love Thee? Let Me Count The Ways” from Elizabeth Barrett Browning, typed with Edwardian Script title in 20 pt in a darker red color and the body in 18 pt in black ink on vellum which is approximately 8 x 5 ¼ folded down the middle with the sonnet on the left and a butterfly stamped with Barn Red and let dry. The inks will need more drying time on the vellum.  The very light butterfly image on the left is almost a mirror image of the one on the right and was stamped using a 2nd generation technique on the vellum so as to not take away from the text.  The border on the top and bottom are from Eclectic Edges C1450 which is half on the page and half off using Vineyard Berry ink.  The left has no paper behind the vellum but I used one of the beautiful papers from the kit to add dimension and texture under the vellum. The vellum is just slightly adhered to the fold and then the ribbon holes will be put in last.

And lastly the left flap turns to reveal the sentiment Happy Birthday stamped in the middle of Blush inked edges to add visual interest with room for the giver to profess their undying love to the recipient. The right side of the card is decorated with a distressed tag shape made from the pink cardstock in the paper pack and inked with Blush ink and then stamped with the whimsical swirls small heart from Love Life. The butterfly and saying, “Love as delicate as a butterfly’s wings; as strong as the circle of life” is from Quick Cards-Butterfly A1120, the bottom is the whole stamp cut out with just the butterfly cut out and mounted on the thick foam pop dots and placed over the butterfly on the bottom image. Lastly I used the words “Beautiful” and “Love” from Find Your Style and cut them out and mounted them above and below the butterfly to pull it all together.

Lastly I placed the insert page (the one with the sonnet, and butterfly) and adhered the right side back (the butterfly side back) to the extreme right panel so that when you open the flap it opens the inserted part to reveal the sonnet and butterfly. Then I put small slits in the fold to thread the ribbon through to hold it and give something to hold it all closed as it is a thicker card. To tie it all up, close the card and make the beginning of a bow then wrap one end around the back of the card and use the other end on the front to tie it into a bow to accent the front of the card and give it a gift feel quality to it.  This card is really a beautiful way to say I love you and Happy Birthday to someone very very special.
